Bridal shoes: how to look impeccable at two in the morning

A bridal shoe has one hard job: to look perfect in photographs while surviving a sixteen-hour day that ends on the dance floor. The two requirements do not conflict if the shoe is thought through.

The heel: balance, not height

The classic mistake is choosing a heel higher than you usually wear, “because it is a special day”. The result shows by nine in the evening. A 7 cm block heel, centred exactly under the heel bone, supports far better than a 9 cm stiletto pushed backwards. See Blanche.

The insole

This is where the hours are won. An insole following your footprint spreads weight across the whole sole instead of gathering it at the front. Made to order, the insole is moulded to your outline, not to an average.

White is not one colour

Pure white, ivoire, champagne — they read completely differently next to the dress and under a photographer's light. Pure white beside an ivoire dress appears bluish in photos. Safest: send us a swatch of the dress fabric or a daylight photograph.

The strap and the bow

An ankle strap changes everything when dancing: the shoe stops slipping at the heel. And the leather bow, the signature of our women's collection, can be made in any colour — including one picking up the bouquet.

After the wedding

White leather can be re-dyed darker. Many clients turn their bridal shoes into evening shoes a year or two later. It is an atelier operation, not a complicated one — ask us.
