A wedding day is the one day in life when you stand for sixteen hours, get photographed from every angle, and cannot change your shoes halfway. It is worth planning.
Colour, matched to the suit
- Navy suit — cognac or burgundy. The warm contrast looks superb in photographs, and the shoe stays wearable afterwards.
- Charcoal or black suit — black. Here the classic is classic for a reason.
- Beige or linen suit, summer wedding — light cognac or cognac croc, if you want something more relaxed.
Construction matters more than the model
For sixteen hours, three things are non-negotiable: an insole that moulds to your footprint, a full leather lining (synthetics do not breathe, and you feel it by ten in the evening) and a stitched sole that flexes naturally at every step.
The calendar
Order 6–8 weeks ahead. Making takes 2–4 weeks; the rest is margin for a fitting and for breaking in. Two weeks before the wedding, wear them indoors on 3–4 evenings for two hours. The leather settles, and on the day there are no surprises.
A detail that shows in photos
